Short Summary
We are independent filmmakers (www.speakeasyproject.com) located in Budapest, Hungary, making a documentary series, called Menjek/Maradjak (Leave/Stay - www.menjekmaradjak.hu) about the "new mobility", migration trends among the Hungarian youth.
With the current campaign, we are raising money to cover the basic expenses of a fundraiser screening of the New York episode (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfsWx9y_7FQ) in London, at the Balassi Institute followed by a party at The Garage on October 24.
Our first movie, the New York episode, funded entirely by us and published freely on the Internet, is now seen by more than 50k people. Depending on the success of this "pilot" campaign we are planning to turn to our audiences for further donation to support our cause, which is to tell unbiased, deep and edifying stories in an uncompromising and elegant way. The second episode's shooting takes place in London, this December.
Thank you for supporting us! Expect great stories in return!
What We Need & What You Get
In this first round, we need a 1000 pounds, approximately the third of the expenses of the London screening and party as well as the research we conduct to find the characters for the London episode. The rest of the funding we are hoping to receive from the tickets.
Our low-budget trip to London will cost around 2000+ pounds as we are also expecting to raise some money at the event, where you may also contribute.
The entrance perk, will definitely get you into our London screening and party. (Facebook invitation screening:
Facebook invitation party: ) With the high-end perk of 750 pounds, you yourself become a credited co-producer of the London episode with rights to consult us on delivering the London episode.
The Impact
Why should you support our project?
In the recent two decades, the number of Hungarians considering living in a foreign country has tripled. In 2012, 16% of the Hungarians toyed with the idea of living or working abroad and now more and more of them make it a reality. (Tárki Institute of Social Research, 2013) The "new mobility" is the number one social trend and challenge in Eastern Europe being also a valuable source of amazing and edifying life stories. We tell them to edify, document our age as well as prove that they are worth telling.
By supporting us, you yourself may become part of a powerful story.
